Chinese Lunar New Year 2021

Hello Postcard Friends –

Did you know? The Lunar New Year is the most important holiday of the year for many Asian communities around the world—primarily celebrated by people of Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tibetan, Mongolian, Malaysian, and Filipino heritage.

Known as “Tet” in Vietnam and the “Spring Festival” in China and elsewhere, the Lunar New Year begins on the second new moon after the winter solstice and historically marks the arrival of spring.

2021 is the Year of the Ox and begins on Chinese Lunar New Years Day, February 12th, 2021, and lasts until January 30th, 2022.

To commemorate this event, the U.S. Postal Service is issuing their second of 12 stamps in their Lunar New Year stamp series.

The Year of the Ox Forever Stamp is available for pre-order from the USPS Store and will be released on February 2, 2021.

Pretty cool if you like combining the postcard with a matching stamp.
